Soro’s Buying SPY Puts? – Feb 18th SassyMusings

Should we be following Sorro’s into SPY puts?

• I exited REGN, P, and DECK today.
• I got long BIDU today per my thoughts that I wrote about this weekend here.
• For better or worse, I am holding GRMN into earnings tomorrow.
• I will update those SPY 184 Calls and 90 QQQ calls by tomorrow morning via twitter. See here to know the context.
• For those that have followed me for a while, you know I LOVED PCLN when it was around 800. I currently have no position and am neutral regarding earnings so am staying out for now (they report Thursday).
• Solars (which I’ve stated many times that I think will be hot this year) had a great day and hopefully it’s just the start. I tweeted out the chart of TSL because it has yet to breakout and I like to get in before the breakouts rather than after.
• I think there will be a day some time soon that AMZN will make a big move higher. You could make the case that it is bear flagging, but I’m basing this on psychology. I think that many people have been waiting for lower prices and once it starts really moving and they realize lower prices aren’t coming they will jump in. Let’s see if my psych skills work on this one.
• If you didn’t see my tweet about GILD, I think it has a lot of room to the upside.
• Tweet of the day: The reason I chose this one is because 1) I laughed and 2) I remember sometime last year when one of Soros’ 13-F fillings also showed a large SPY put position. Everyone made a huge deal of it and guess what? We went much higher. There is no way to know why he bought his recent disclosed SPY put position or if he is even still in them considering the 45 day lag time. Story here.
